Energy Tax Credit
If you purchased the Polywood Shutter Insulating System and you're filing 2015 taxes, follow the information below to apply for the credit. If you have further questions about your shutter tax credit, please contact your tax professional.
The Polywood Shutter Company offers one product that qualifies for the Federal Energy Tax Credit: The Polywood Shutter Insulating System. If you insulated your windows in 2015, you may be eligible for a tax credit of 10% of the cost of the product, up to a maximum credit of $500. This applies to purchases made and installed during 2015.
The Polywood Shutter Insulating System has been designed for energy savings. Polywood was also created to reduce heat loss or gain in a home or building. The Polywood material is engineered to reflect outside temperature. Unlike typical shutters, Polywood has weather stripping on the vertical stiles that interlock to block out heat gain/loss better than any other shutter. This weather stripping reduces outside airflow from the room. The Polywood Shutter Insulating System has been tested and proven to reduce heat transfer and significantly improve the R Value, U Factor and Solar Heat Gain of any window.
Polywood Shutter Insulating Systems qualify for the Federal Tax Credit under the category of “Insulating Products.” Polywood is specifically designed to reduce heat loss or gain in a home or building and meets the requirements established for insulating systems as set forth by the IRS and IECC.
